Preseason. Avangard hands first loss to Traktor

The first twenty saw a back-and-forth battle. Traktor could not capitalize on two power play chances, which led to the opposite – Avangard pulled ahead in PP thanks to Sergey Kalinin’s scoring effort. It has to be noted that Vasily Demchenko played this match in the nets for Traktor, the reason for it being that Karri Kivi decided to give younger players more ice time.

Second period was somewhat similar to the first one as both goaltenders were able to fend off the attacking efforts. As a result, the period turned out to be scoreless

Midway through the third Traktor finally tied the game thanks to a Panov goal. The match rolled into OT, and this was where pendulum swung to Avangard’s side – Nikita Pivtsakin got the winning goal some one minute before the end of the overtime period.
