Denis Lyapin memorial tournament
Denis
Lyapin was a Zvezda and Traktor hockey school alum. Back in 2006 Denis played in
Traktor’s farm club as well as in Yuzhniy Ural and Mechel. The last team Lyapin
played for was HC Ryazan.
In the end of 2007 Denis was diagnosed with acute leukemia. Despite chemotherapy and operation in an Israeli clinic, the money for which was collected by the fans and the teams from both Major Hockey League and Russian Superleague, Denis could not overcome cancer. This tournament is named after the young man who was taken away from us in his prime.
