Barys too big a pill to swallow for Traktor
Just a few changes took place in Traktor’s lineup. First, Demchenko was replaced by Fokin in the nets, and second, Piganovich and Atyushov exchanged their defensive spots.
First twenty had power game aplenty, yet the opponents managed to collect a
total combined amount of three goals. Traktor began the game in a typical Traktor-style
as Barys’ Nikolai Antropov found the back of the net on a
rebound. After a while Glinkin tied the
match with a scintillating shot to the near top corner. The third and final goal-scoring
effort came just after it; Barys garnered a PP chance and quickly converted it – Semenov charged a blistering blue-liner
while sturdy Antropov was almost literally
blocking the daylight for Vlad Fokin. Two one after one.
The second twenty
was pretty much a copycat of the first one. Three minutes into it Barys’ North American
line that has become the evil genius for Traktor in the last few years struck
again – Boyd passed, Bochenski scored. Traktor pulled one back
as Kokuyov scored his first season
goal, and what a goal that was! Semyon fired a great one-timer that had Laco off guard. Traktor smelt blood and
went on to try to tie it up on the spot, but Jan Laco kept the score
intact up until the buzzer.
Fans in attendance hoping for a quick goal erupted in excitement when Ruzicka celebrated a very important,
albeit a little circumstantial, goal. After having given a lot of effort to catch
Barys, Traktor quickly frittered a tied score away. Blokhin and Dawes hit a double
within the span of a single minute. Hosts, to their credit, were quick to pull another
one back at the hands of Popov.
Unfortunately for the black-and-white, all their attempts on goal in the
remaining fifteen minutes did not give the needed result. Rudenko tallied an empty-netter to set the final score of this
goalfest. Four six, Traktor suffers second consecutive defeat and is out of the
playoffs for the time being.
