Will to win pays, but not always big
Filipp Toluzakov played his first ever match in Traktor, taking his spot in the third line along with Osnovin and Gubarev.
Injured Glinkin wasreplaced by Artyom Penkovski. Mokin and Kokuyovaccompanied Wilson in the fourth line
as Katichev became the 7thD-man and Velichkin – the 13th forward.
Avtomobilist quickly established themselves as host and were on the
verge of scoring several times while Traktor preferred to focus on the defense.
Before minute number seven Traktor managed to kill off a penalty with the help
of several brilliant stops by Vasili Demchenko. After a little while it was
visitors’ turn to convert a PP chance. Bulis bothered his compatriot Jakub Kovar, but failed to outplay him on
both exchanges. After mid-period hosts’ Canadian forward Gilbert Brule could not
outsmart Demchenko in a one-on-one
battle. However,
Avtomobilist was able to pull ahead before the break at the hands of Simakov.
Complexion of the first period did not change in the second one. Traktor continued
to put more emphasis on the defense while Avtomobilist sought happiness in
their opponents’ zone. To get ahead of ourselves a little, the score didn’t
change throughout the second twenty, and mostly, this had to do with Vasili Demchenko. Vasya stopped a close range shot taken by hosts’ captain Eduard Lewandowski, and then somehow some way pulled off the improbable,
thwarting a three-on-one scoring chance. Traktor had two decent scoring opportunities,
but both Popov and Bulis were not able to beat Jakub Kovar.
Traktor might have pulled ahead within the starting minutes of the period. Chistov delivered a saucer pass to Quint, but Deron sent the rubber just
wide of the goal; later on, Kyle Wilson had a breakaway chance, but yet
again Jakub Kovar was the victor on this exchange. Can’t score yourself – prepare
to get the puck from your own net. This rule worked again when Petruzalek doubled the lead for
Avtomobilist. After that, a little brawl between Piganovich and Komarov broke out. Oleg was declared the winner, and seemingly this lit a spark in
Traktor’s engine. Just as the game entered clutch time, Bulis and Popov scored two
hard-fought goals to turn the game into the overtime.
After a somewhat empty OT Jakub Petruzalek gave hosts the win in a hockey
lottery. Traktor suffers four consecutive defeat, and the schedule does not do
the black-and-white any favors as Ak Bars is slated to be our next opponent.
