Karri Kivi: we lacked emotional spark
Doug
Shedden, Medvescak head coach:
- Tonight was the best game of my team during my time as head coach. It was a tough away game. I liked that we scored two quick goals at the top of the second period. I also liked the way we played shorthanded, albeit I have some questions to my players concerning this aspect of the game. On the whole, I am satisfied with the result of the game and the way Medvescak performed tonight.
Karri Kivi, Traktor head coach:
- I agree with Doug – it was a tough game, although of course I am not satisfied. We have a scoring problem, our forwards don’t screen the opposing team’s goaltenders, don’t battle on the crease, and we have to correct that. We also lacked an emotional spark at the top of the game. After allowing two quick goals, we tried to find our game and looked pretty good, but this is not what I want to see. I want to see more emotions from the team and since the very first moments of each game.
Question to Kivi: Didn’t you want to shake things up after three quick goals and change the goaltender?
Kivi: No I did not. Garnett needs ice time, he wants to play. So no, I did not think about this.
Question to Kivi: Is Popov hurt?
Kivi: Yes, he actually got hurt in Saturday night’s game. He only played during the first twenty. By the way, Osnovin is also hurt, therefore, Penkovski was put in the second line.
Question to Shedden: You once admitted that you could have become Traktor head coach during this past offseason. What went wrong?
Shedden: It’s only rumors. Traktor did not contact me during the offseason.
