MHL. Just short against Tolpar

Compared to the last game, Medvedi coaching staff did not make any changes in team’s line-up.

The game started with the minor received by Aleksandr Tridchikov that was not converted by Tolpar players. After some time, the hosts played four on five, and then three on five; Medvedi had two players’ advantage over a minute, but didn’t manage to score. In general, our team played better during the first period, attacked more and had a number of scoring chances. Tolpar’s goaltender Vyacheslav Volkov was ready for such flurry and stopped all the shots near his goal. Shortly before the first break Nikita Mosharov was sent to penalty box, having received a double minor for high-sticking. Belye Medvedi defended well during this exchange and even organized a breakaway for Aleksandr Tridchikov, who failed to beat the goalkeeper. Eventually, our team conceded a goal ten seconds before Tridchikov’s appearance on ice – Vasili Zhilov distracted Medvedi’s defenders in the corner and assisted Filipp Pangelov-Yuldashev who took a wrist shot into the top corner – 1:0.

The complexion of the game did not change in the second period; visitors attacked a lot and hosts defended. Tolpar made many mistakes that led to several minors, but the black-and-white were unable to extract something out of these opportunities. Eventually, hosts punished Medvedi when Dmitri Noskov dragged the puck from his team’s zone and at the second attempt outdid Yegor Nazarov – 2:0. Before the second break Belye Medvedi had two power plays, but Tolpar’s goaltender was on top, stopping a handful of great shots taken by the black-and-white.

At the beginning of the third period, Maksim Shipin received two minutes for hooking, and Tolpar extended the lead. Kirill Shmurygin caught the rebound from the goaltender after Kirill Tsulygin’s shot and hit the empty net – 3:0. Medvedi were fast to pull one back when Aleksandr Sharov fought the puck away on the slot and pushed the rubber into the net – 3:1. With every minute, Medvedi put more and more pressure on opponent’s goaltender. At such important moment, Ilya Zinovyev and Maksim Shipin received unnecessary minors and left the team to play three against five. Tolpar played in a rather relaxed manner during their power play and didn’t score, which sort of led to the nervous ending of the game. Vladimir Ionin scored the goal off the rebound and cut the goal margin to minimum – 3:2. Belye Medvedi spent the last moments of the game in the opponent’s zone but, unfortunately were unable to tie the game.
