Andrei Nikolishin: we were unable to do what we planned to

Andrei Nikolishin, Traktor head coach:
- Good evening. First off, I would like to wish everyone a happy New Year. Unfortunately, we did not do everything that we planned to do in this game. Barys played a very good game, and we allowed a very stupid goal. Then the game was pretty much equally fought, but Barys was better on several exchanges and won. We now have a couple of days off, and all the necessary conclusions will be made in 2015.

Andrei Nazarov, Barys head coach:
- I would also like to wish everyone a happy New Year. It’s always great to close the year on a winning note, especially on home ice. We have had quite a few ridiculous defeats throughout the year. I am very glad for Pavel Poluektov – he went out there and helped Barys when Jan Laco was out. Once again, Happy New Year everybody!

Question to Nazarov: Why didn’t you put Gavrilin instead of Mikhailis from the very first seconds? Didn`t he look better?
Nazarov: I agree, he did look better, but Mikhailis is the future of Kazakh hockey, the MVP of last year’s U20 World Championship. I was a young player myself, and I know that in order for a young player to develop into a skilled professional, he has to appear in more games and get more ice time, otherwise he will stop evolving.

Question to Nazarov: Why is Zhailauov absent from the lineup?
Nazarov: He is out with an injury.

Question to Nazarov: Why wouldn`t you put young guns like Grents, Korolinsky, Asetov instead of those who played bad in the last few games?
Nazarov: You read our mind. On January 4 we are calling up Grents and Baranov to evaluate whether they are ready for the main roster. If they do well in the preparation process, they will get their spot on the roster. You are right in one thing – aged players make mistakes, so I have to do something to give the needed result.

Question to Nazarov: Romanov is relatively young, and he still makes a lot of mistakes…
Nazarov: You see, Romanov has another function on the ice – he’s great in shorthanded play. There are others who play in full strength and in power play

Question to Nazarov: Has Ivanov recovered from his injury?
Nazarov: No, not yet.
