As much as needed
The only change taking place in Traktor lineup was Velichkin replacing Petrov.
Both teams played without a single stoppage for 6 minutes and 20 seconds, which, however, did not influence the amount of scoring chances, of which there were none. Chistov and Pare exploded the game with a nice little combo that ended in a Proskuryakov save. After that, a tide of penalties ensued; once Traktor was left three on four, Admiral pulled ahead. A defensive lapse from the black-and-white led to Bergfors’ easy goal from close range. Traktor responded with a decent PP performance of their own; Pare, inspired by his four goals, twice passed to Kokuyov on the slot, and twice Semyon was thwarted by Admiral D-men.
After the break, Traktor kicked it into another gear and crushed the visitor. First off, Artyom Penkovsky demonstrated a veteran-like smart pass to Osnovin, and the latter pierced Proskuryakov. Then, the same line pulled Traktor ahead; Martin Ruzicka spurted through the right wing, skated one on one against Admiral goaltender and easily beat him. Fans in attendance transferred their energy to the players on the ice, and they did not disappoint. Chistov made a self-directed pass to Martynov who was a whisker away from upsetting Proskuryakov again. What Yegor lacked, Andrei Popov did not; Pestunov found #9 with another terrific pass, and Andrei outplayed the goalie from close range. Closer towards the end of the period, Traktor was left shorthanded twice, but chose not to focus on the defense and organized two very sharp breakaways. Osnovin and Pare could have increased their figures in the G column, but Proskuryakov came out on top both times.
Traktor played an ideal third period strategy-wise, drying the game up and not allowing Admiral too much wiggle room. However, visitors came up with a couple of scoring chances, particularly dangerous being the one Niclas Bergfors had. Michael Garnett had to show why he is the irreplaceable #1 goalie for Traktor. In the last five minutes of the game, Admiral locked the black-and-white in their own zone, but no decent scoring opportunities were created. Traktor held on to the winning score, claiming a fourth victory in the row, which is the biggest winning streak of the season for the black-and-white so far.
