Gennadi Tsygurov personal flag now in Traktor unofficial Hall of Fame

Gennadi Tsygurov (born 1942) – Master of Sports, RSFSR and USSR Honorary Coach (1981 and 1989 respectively). 18 seasons in Traktor, 682 GP, 48 G, 22 A. Tsygurov was a living legend in his days, a true captain and leader of the team. Tsygurov was a bronze medalist in the 1977/1978 season.Right after this success, he hung up the skates and began his coaching career. After spending one year as an assistant coach, he became the head coach of the team. In total, Tsygurov worked 11 years as Traktor’s head coach (1978-1984, 1987-1990, 2005-2007). It was under Tsugyrov’s stewardship that Traktor returned to the top league of the Russian hockey back in 2006.

Tsygurov also led U20 team Russia to world championship’s gold in 1999. Lada, with Tsygurov at the helm, became two-time International Hockey League champion (1994, 1996) and IHL Cup winner (1996). Tsygurov was great at completing tasks within limited amount of time. Apart from Traktor, he brought Lada, Torpedo and HC MVD to the Russian Superleague.

Tsygurov is an Honorary Citizen of Togliatti and Chelyabinsk. He is currently in rehabilitation after a severe disease. Many people knew about the disaster that struck the Tsygurov family and donated money.
