Andrei Nikolishin: we still can’t convert scoring chances
Yevgeni Kornoukhov, Avangard head coach:
- A very tough victory. We had a great start with two early goals, but then
Traktor turned tables on us. After the break we evened the game out, and closer
to the end, Denis Kostin cleaned up two defensive lapses. I would like to thank
my team for their effort on the ice tonight.
Andrei Nikolishin, Traktor head coach:
- Indeed it was a tough matchup with plenty of hits and scoring chances.
Unfortunately, we still can’t convert the scoring opportunities we have.
Scoring only one goal rarely wins you hockey games. There are still loads of
work to do.
Question to Nikolishin: After
the previous game you said Traktor did not stick to the game plan. What about tonight’s game?
Nikolishin: Tonight
was a lot better. I have questions regarding the two goals we allowed; they are
very easy goals. Other than that, it was a fine effort on our part. And yes,
converting the scoring chances…
Question to Nikolishin: Was Rybakov’s line the best one tonight?
Nikolishin: Why would you think that?
Question to Nikolishin: Well, they scored team’s only goal.
Nikolishin: And? We don’t divide the team into lines, separate players
and so on. The team either wins or not. The fact that they scored this goal is
great, but it was not enough to get the win tonight.
