HC Sochi vs. Traktor, 2:3 (SO). Postgame press-conference
Vyacheslav Butsayev, HC Sochi head coach:
- We knew Traktor would be focused on defense
and counterattacks. We had a decent start of the game, and seemingly when we
were in total control, a defensive blunder led to a tie game. Unfortunately, we lost the shootout series.
Few shots during the power
play? When there is a power play opportunity, the only thing the team should be
focused on is scoring a goal, not keeping the puck. For example, during the
first two power plays in the opening period, we only took one shot on goal. I
am not sure why, but that is a fact.
Barulin on the shootouts?
We tried to surprise the opponent, but it actually played against us.
Andrei Nikolishin, Traktor head coach:
- There are two sides to this game. Sochi was in
control throughout the majority of the bout, outshooting us more than two
times. Nonetheless, we were able to mount a comeback and get a shootout win. I
would also like to thank Traktor fans in attendance; actually, there were quite
a lot of them in the stands tonight.
Slow start of the game? Unfortunately, some of
the players were unprepared to start this game. Turnovers, mistakes in exiting
our own zone – Sochi utilized all of this to their advantage quite well.
Penalties did not help matters either.
