Anvar Gatiyatulin: we could have won it in OT, but no luck

Anvar Gatiyatulin, acting Traktor head coach:
- We had an unsatisfactory first period, so during the intermission I asked my team to pay more attention to the defense. We were able to turn the tables on Barys early on, but unfortunately, we could not get a win in regulation. We had a chance to get a win in OT, but alas, no luck. Despite a shootout loss, I want to thank my players for their guts and desire to keep fighting despite the bad first period.

Andrei Nazarov, Barys head coach:
- Contrary to what my counterpart had to say, I think we had a great first period. Then, mistakes starting coming one after another, and three quick goals stopped our momentum. A little bit of luck was involved in our fourth goal, of course; all in all, I am satisfied with the victory, as are the fans, I think, but this game gave the coaching staff a lot of food for thought.

Question to Nazarov: Second and third have not been able to get better in their passing recently. Any
explanation for that?
NazarovI would say that these three goals within the span of a minute gave the whole team a cold shower. Plus, Traktor is not an easy opponent; I actually have noticed recently that some look at teams like Traktor and Neftekhimik condescendingly. That’s a mistake – both these teams still can get into the playoffs, and they are not easy to play against.

Question to Gatiyatulin: How would you rate Barys’ chances of getting into postseason?
Gatiyatulin: I think a quick look at the leaderboards will give you a hint.
