Despite early active play by the hosts, Traktor opened the score some 6 minutes in at the hands of Yuri Petrov who beat Ustinsky from the slot. Early in the second, Avtomobilist seized the advantage, and it logically resulted in a slew of penalties for the visitors. After a tiresome few minutes, Traktor eventually allowed the goal scored by Dmitry Megalinsky. Several minutes later, Michal Birner was unable to convert a breakaway chance as he sent the puck into the post. The third twenty began with a couple of penalties for both teams, but they did not amount to anything. Six minutes before the horn, Maxim Yakutsenya broke away from the D but was stopped, thus earning a penalty shot. Unfortunately, he did not quite shoot the puck, and the score remained tied at one. An OT then came about, and the teams quickly got a chance to practice a three-on-three overtime as the officials were quite harsh and sent one player from each side to the sin bin. Just like last week against SKA, Traktor’s returnee Kirill Koltsov sealed the deal in this one, giving the black-and-white a very important and hard-fought win. In two days, Traktor meets Yugra on away ice, and returns to Chelyabinsk for a prolonged home series.
