Czech Republic beats in Russia in repeat game

Nikita Kucherov opened the score early in the third, but Tomas Plekanec of Montreal Canadiens tied the game just two minutes before the horn. After a scoreless OT, Ales Hemsky gave the hosting team a shootout win. Traktor’s Michal Birner got two penalty minutes in this game.

Goals: Kucherov (Kuznetsov, Ovechkin), 42 (0:1); Plekanec (Frolik, Polak), 59 (1:1); Hemsky, 65 (2:1 – game-winning penalty shot).

Shootouts: Pastrnak (denied by goalie), Panarin (denied by goalie), Voracek – 1:0, Tarasenko – 1:1, Hemsky – 2:1, Kucherov (wide).

Goalies: Neuvirth-Varlamov.

On September 14, Russia will battle Canada in Pittsburgh while Czech Republic faces Team North America.
