Adam Almquist joins Traktor Chelyabinsk
The defenseman was signed to a one-year contract.
Adam Almquist is a product of the Swedish HV71. For the U18 and U20 national teams he recorded 15 (5+10) points in 39 games. In 2009 the defenseman was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 7th round. In the AHL Almquist played for the Grand Rapids Griffins and helped the team to win the Calder Cup in 2013. In the NHL the defenseman recorded one goal in two games for the Red Wings.
After playing in North America, he came back to Europe and played in Sweden, Switzerland and Russia. Adam played for such teams as Severstal Cherepovets, HV71 (Sweden), Frölunda HC (Sweden), Bern (Switzerland), Admiral Vladivostok and Dinamo Minsk. He won the tropheys of the SHL and NL. For the national team the defenseman recorded 3 (2+1) points in 12 games.

With the coaching staff we made a decision that Adam Almquist is the person that should be on this position in the team. Adam`s advantages are playing on the blue line, good passing and power play game. He has experience both in the KHL and other leading leagues of Europe. It is also important that Adam is a team player who can create atmosphere in the locker room. We expect him to join the team next week.
