Stanislav Chistov: the Avangard series seems to have gone easily for us, but that is not so
It is often said that regular season and playoffs are two different
stories. Do you agree?
Yes, in a sense that any mistake costs you tenfold in the playoffs, but essentially it’s all the same.
Which series of the two was more difficult – against Barys or Avangard?
Don’t let the score fool you – both series were equally tough.
What was the most difficult moment in current playoffs?
Game 7 against Barys; the pendulum could have swung either way.
What about the semifinals?
Of course we expected this series to be a difficult one. As I said earlier, the 4:1 score might make this series look like a walk in the park, but in fact it wasn’t.
It wasn’t that easy no doubt, yet four of the five games were shutout victories.
Michael was calm and collected, we helped him a great deal too and capitalized on our chances, that’s all.
Garnett set the new shutout time record, Kontiola is the best playoff goalscorer; you are the best assister. Are these achievements important?
Well, we do pay attention to it but don’t fixate on the stats. Team’s performance and results is what matters the most.
What do you think Traktor should focus on in the upcoming series against Ak Bars – offense or defense?
Well both, but I think we should be more concentrated on the defensive efforts.
