2012/2013 Playoffs. Game 2, Ak Bars vs. Traktor – 3:1. Press-conference after the match

Valery Belousov, Traktor’s head coach:
Congratulations to Ak Bars on tonight’s victory. We warned our players not to get unnecessary penalties in the attacking zone, but alas, two allowed goals out of three penalties.

Valery Belov, Ak Bars’ head coach:
Thank you very much for your congratulations. I don’t know what could have happened had Traktor opened the score. Luckily for us, it was us who did it; then we were able to hang on to the lead. And yes, power play is a very important factor in the playoffs, and it’s good that we capitalize on the opponents’ mishaps so well.

Question to Belousov: One more time about Kostitsyn – his penalty in game 1 led to a goal; same history tonight…
Belousov: Yes, I know – forwards can’t allow to get penalties in the attacking zone, not in the playoffs. The penalties themselves were stupid and unnecessary too. As for Andrey – he has played a lot NHL, but it’s a different game across the pond; here he just throws the puck in without going for it. That’s not good, we have to fix it.
