Four overtimes in five games – I think it happens for the first time in my career. Where players get the strength I wonder. Anyway, I would like to thank my team; they are victorious tonight and keep the season alive.
Valery Belov, Ak Bars’ head coach:
I agree with Valery Konstantinovich. This series pits two equally matched teams, and someone’s mistake will often be a deciding factor. Unfortunately, it was Ak Bars’ mistake tonight. We should have converted the overtime power play chances. And yes, before you ask, Kirill Petrov is fine.
Question to Belousov: Quint should have executed the penalty shot, but instead headed to the locker room, returning later on. Was it a tactical trick of sorts?
Belousov: No, he was legitimately injured, but the doctors froze up the injured spot and Deron was able to continue.
Question to Belousov: Did you choose Kontiola to execute the penalty shot or was it him who volunteered?
Belousov: It was my decision.
