Gagarin Cup Finals. Game 5, Dynamo vs. Traktor – 3:4. Press-conference after the match

Valery Belousov, Traktor’s head coach:
I asked my players to focus on the defense in the third period which they successfully did. Kostitsyn’s game-winning goal is a stroke of luck.

Oleg Znarok, Dynamo’s head coach:
A lot of mistakes on our part in the first period. We got back into the game in the second and wanted to focus on the defense in the third, duh! After Traktor pulled ahead, we still could tie the match, but hit the post. That’s OK, we’re heading to Chelyabinsk.

Question to Belousov: Last year after Dynamo stayed alive in game 5 against Avangard, Oleg Znarok promised to come back to Omsk for game 7 and kept the promise. Can you follow his example?
Belousov: We’ll see how it is going to go down in game 6. Obviously, we will try to get to game 7.

Question to Znarok: Mironov had a serious concussion, yet he appeared on the ice tonight. Why?
Znarok: I had to replace Derlyuk who made two mistakes that cost us two goals.

Question to Znarok: Why was Vishnevskiy absent?
Znarok: He was not on the cards that I lay out before the match (smiles).

Question to Belousov: Did the third period go as planned for Traktor?
Belousov: Not exactly. We had to switch to three lines due to two injuries.

Question to Belousov: Vladislav Tretyak said Nichushkin is allowed to stay in Traktor until the end of the series.
Belousov
Thats goodbecause we dont have enough forwards.
