Michael Garnett: my dream is to one day play for team Canada
- I’m absolutely happy with my career at this point. My main goal might
be to try to be in the nets for team Canada on the upcoming World Championship.
I have always dreamt about it.
I grew as a player in Russia. I get a lot of game time, and this gives me confidence. I’ve changed my game during five seasons in KHL; I’m more used to playing on bigger rinks. I am not even sure whether I would be able to play in North America now.
The difference between KHL and NHL is that here it’s more about team work. A goalie has to watch out for every pass and analyze the game; I for one like it, and I think it’s my best quality as a goaltender. Besides, KHL doesn’t have NHL’s glamour and showoff. KHL is all about the game, about winning; it’s less business-oriented. It’s like a breath of fresh air for me.
I’ve lived in Chelyabinsk for two years. I’ve got a car here; I live here nine months a year and feel myself at home. I think I really can stay in Russia for good.
