Vladimir Krechin: Traktor`s objective in the upcoming season is to win Gagarin Cup
- Back in 2010 when most of
Traktor management was replaced, Governor Yurevich set the goal of winning the
Cup. We have been steadily working to achieve this goal, and will continue doing so. There can't be any other goal for the team that shows continuous progress
results and performance wise.
Krechin also clarified the interseason status of Andrey Kostitsyn.
- Since he was a free agent, we could not do anything to influence his decision. However, after one month of negotiations Andrey accepted our contract offer and decided to stay in Chelyabinsk. He likes it here, and fans love him too.
Krechin also commented on interseason roster losses, stating that it is a natural process for any hockey team.
- Of course, some interseason losses are huge, but we have to take the business aspect into consideration. Dynamo offered lucrative compensations for Karpov and Nichushkin. We have to make the team an independent earner. It won't be far from truth to tell that Traktor has the strongest hockey school in the country. We will foster talent and, if there is enough demand on the market, we will capitalize. It's typical for soccer, so I think it will soon become normal in hockey as well. It's another revenue item for the team, so why be shy about it?
Krechin also revealed the reason behind the departure of former team captain Vladimir Antipov.
- Vladimir suited us as team leader, but he no longer was suitable for Valery Belousov's team model.
And lastly, Krechin reiterated that Yevgeny Kuznetsov would be going over the pond as soon as the season is over.
- He wants to a tryout in the NHL and definitely wants to leave.
