Hot streak over for Traktor
Visitors' lineup underwent some changes as Garnett returned to the nets; Dugin dealt with his cold and was back to the all-familiar third line along with Popov and Glinkin which resulted in Kokuyov being moved to the fourth line replacing Dmitry Tsybin.
First period
Denis Abdullin fired the first bullet of the game that was turned aside by Jakub Kovar. Some back-and-forth action led to the first penalty and, as it turned out later, the opening goal of the game - Lepistö found the back of the net as the puck deflected off of Kontiola's stick and disoriented Garnett. Right after the goal Traktor picked up some momentum and garnered a PP chance of their own failing, however, to come up with any sort of onslaught. Midway through the period the opponents exchanged scoring chances, but in both cases goalies came out on top. Traktor then dominated the second half of the period and gained another power play which did not lead to anything substantial goal-scoring opportunities wise.
Second period
At the top of the period both goaltenders once again showcased their skill to keep the score intact. Avto was then punished for too many men on ice; Traktor had a large advantage during these two minutes and up to the ten-minute mark, but, as it often happens, the exact opposite happened - Golyshev extended the goal margin to two, converting a breakaway chance. Five minutes before the horn Traktor pulled one back, but referees chopped off the goal, also deeming Kuznetsov's actions worth a two-minute minor. Traktor played it to perfection to leave themselves a chance to pull off a comeback in the last twenty.
Third period
Traktor was all over the place in the third period which is understandable considering that visitors had nothing to lose. Chistov could pull one back - Kovar showed great reaction and made a pad save; Bulis, Popov twice, Klimontov - no one was destined to upset Kovar as the puck either missed the net or was stopped by the molten hot Avto goaltender. Two nil, the final score; Traktor failed to continue the winning streak and now heads to the north for a final game against Yugra before a huge 10-day break.
