SIBIR vs. TRAKTOR – 3:2 ОТ. Press-conference after the match
Valery Belousov, Traktor head
coach:
- We completely lost the first twenty, even though I warned the team that Sibir would rush forward right off the bat. Second period was good. The third one was decent, but the mistake of one of our forwards gave Sibir the tying goal. As far as OT goes, we made a defensive lapse. All in all, it was a match of equal opportunities.
Dmitry Kvartalnov, Sibir head coach:
- It was a really tough game. We won the first twenty, unlike the second one. In the intermission before the third period I asked my players to seek for an opportunity, and it came along. Good thing we are victorious tonight. We were really worried for the result of this game.
Question to Belousov: Kuznetsov returned to action tonight. Any comments on his performance? Is he still motivated after the announcement that he will miss the Olympics?
Belousov: Each player should be motivated, no matter if he is on the Olympic team roster or not. He should not think about it - he's got a whole career in front of him. I think he only will get better from this point on.
Question to Kvartalnov: Sibir has been rather unsuccessful in shootouts as of late. Did you ask your team to try to decide the game in the OT?
Kvartalnov: No, I did not.
Question to Kvartalnov: Your comments on performance of new acquisitions Martynov and Hrabal?
Kvartalnov: We expect more from them.
Question to Kvartalnov: You have been offered a new contract before the playoffs. Does it give you extra confidence, seeing as how the management believes in you?
Kvartalnov: Of course, and I am very glad that things went so smoothly. I would like to thank management and region's Governor for their support.
Question to Kvartalnov: What did you pay the most attention to in this agreement?
Kvartalnov: It was not exactly a new agreement; there was an option that extended my contract.
