Valeri Karpov passes away at age 43
Back in July 2014, Valeri Karpov suffered a severe head trauma due to an
accident. Karpov underwent two surgeries, but never recovered from coma.
Valeri Karpov was a Traktor hockey school alumnus. He played 8 seasons in the black-and-white
jersey (274 GP, 77 G, 86 A). Karpov is a 1993 world champion, 2002 IIHF World Championships
runner-up, 1-time Olympian (back in 1994 in Lillehammer). With Traktor, Valeri Karpov
won the bronze medals of the Russian Hockey League two times in a row (1993,
1994).
