Traktor celebrates its 66th birthday

On December 27, 1947 the union of Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant workers agreed to give life to a local hockey club then called Dzerzhinets. This day is considered to be the birthday of Traktor.

During its illustrious 66-year history, Traktor became KHL runner-up (2013) and is 4-time bronze medalist of Russian hockey championships (1977, 1993, 1994, 2012) as well as IHL Cup bronze medalist (1994). Seven Traktor alumni are Olympic champions (Viktor Shuvalov, Sergey Babinov, Sergey Makarov, Sergey Starikov, Vyacheslav Bykov, Sergey Mylnikov, Yevgeny Davydov), and fourteen are world champions (Viktor Shuvalov, Sergey Makarov, Nikolay Makarov, Sergey Starikov, Sergey Babinov, Sergey Mylnikov, Vyacheslav Bykov, Yevgeny Davydov, Andrey Sapozhnikov, Igor Varitsky, Valery Karpov, Aleksandr Semin, Dmitry Kalinin, Yevgeny Kuznetsov).
