No new contract for Mezin and other transfer news
Tsybuk thanked Mezin on behalf
of the team and said that this decision was made due to Traktor’s desire to
rely on team’s own goaltenders.
Tsybuk gave some information
on other possible transfers. In particular, he said that Andrey Kostitsyn was
considering his return to the NHL. It depends on Andrey’s decision – Traktor has
KHL rights on the player, said Tsybuk.
Traktor’s manager also said that Traktor’s list of players for the extension draft
for Vladivostok hockey team is ready. The draft itself will take place on June 17. Traktor’s management hopes not to lose any of team’s players,
the reason being the new team should not necessarily pick one player from each
team.
Yevgeny Tsybuk also commented one of the most impactful transfers of this
spring when Danis Zaripov left Ak Bars to sign with Metallurg Magnitogorsk.
- Metallurg has better financial
opportunities. It’s impossible to compete on financial field with teams that
have deep budgets. Of course we would like to see Chelyabinsk hockey alums in Traktor,
but sometimes it’s too much, just like in cases of Zaripov and another
Chelyabinsk hockey school alumnus, Yevgeny Medvedev.
Another important player for Traktor, Dmitry Ryabykin, is still thinking about
the new contract offered him by the team. Tsybuk says Traktor is counting on Dmitry,
but has implemented plan B in case Ryabykin doesn’t accept Traktor’s offer,
purchasing three solid D-men in Aleksey Guskov, Maksim Kondratyev and Aleksey
Bondarev.
